Julie Kieffer

Julie Kieffer is born in 1989 in Evian-les-bains. Graduated from Villa Arson in 2026, she lives between Clermont-Ferrand and Lyon and works within the Ateliers.

In 2018, she is a resident at la Friche Lamartine (Lyon), and the Factatory (Lyon). En parallèle, At the same time, she gets the grant of the Ateliers Médicis pour le projet Création en Cours developed within a primary school in Jura.
She participates in several exhibitions : in 2019, Attrapes Couleurs, in resonance with Lyon’s biennial, Arteppes of Annecy, and Atelier Sumo in Lyon; in 2020, Saint-Etienne Carbon Biennial and Sentiers des Arts of Aquitaine, in 2021, Grrr Zéro in Lyon and the basculeur. Simultaneously, she has been developing since 2019 the project Super Sapin, selling artists and designers artworks to give off their works and offer a friendly visibility.

‌Julie Kieffer’s work is about apprehending landscapes, transposing them in installations, hence making the territory in which it takes place crucial.
Her practice is between installation and drawing. Connecting real space and one added-on, her work summons landscape, construction and domestic sphere. She uses the image of the garden as territory, because of its scale and its mouldable aspect : “I work by starters, layers, using the ground or the wall as a base and layering shots or scenes.”

More recently, the artist works on a series of sculptures connected to clothes used in motocross. Wax or resin sculptures take the mark of textile and the shape of articulation. She will develop this research in the company using for the first time bronze technique.

A project supported by the French Institute, the city of Lyon, DRAC Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and the French Institut of Milan.
