à ciel ouvert • 20 artists in the street of Lyon, 2021

Lyon, from 21st April to 4th May 2021

The City of Lyon and Studio Ganek, an association for the production and dissemination of contemporary art, are offering À ciel ouvert, an exhibition in the city from 21st April to 4th May 2021, a poetic moment reflecting contemporary creation. 20 artists from Lyon will be taking over the city's billboards with hitherto unseen works of art.

The exhibition venues have been closed for several months now. In this particular context, this project is a breath of fresh air, an alternative way of putting art and creativity back at the heart of our daily lives. It's both a project to support artists and an opportunity to exhibit works in the public space, open to the gaze of walkers for a moment's pause.

The many and varied practices of visual artists are exhibited in the streets of Lyon. The artists are using the format of the advertising poster and getting off the beaten track. An image conceived by a young painter who has just graduated from the Beaux-Arts school and one by an internationally acclaimed photographer or sculptor come together. Like omens, these living works scattered around the city convey a strong poetic message to local residents and passers-by, a breath of open-air air.
